What is Creature Weekend?
Creature Weekend is a conference dedicated to the exploration and discussion of Cryptozoology. Held annually in Cambridge, Ohio, the conference attracts researchers from all over the USA and features speakers on various cryptozoological topics. Whether you are an experienced researcher, armchair enthusiast, or someone who would like to learn about the exciting field of cryptozoology, Creature Weekend offers something for everyone in a friendly and fun environment. We regularly have workshops that teach beginners and veterans the proper way to collect potential evidence for the existence of Cryptids and offer hikes into the field for a real investigative experience. We also sponsor a Summer Campout that is a family friendly way to share your experiences and best practices in the field with others who share your passion.
What is Cryptozoology?
Cryptozoology is the study of hidden animals, i.e. animals that have yet to be identified by science or thought to have been long extinct. Bigfoot, Dogmen, The Abominable Snowman, The Loch Ness Monster, Thunderbirds and many other mysterious and elusive creatures fall into this category.

2017 CONFERENCE UPDATE (10/23/2017)
WOW! There was a lot of stuff that went on over the weekend, but before I get into all of the great stuff that went on, I feel that I need to get something off of my chest so here goes... THANK YOU EVERYONE who participated in the Creature Weekend 2017 conference this past weekend. 2017 marks the 6th year of this event and would not have been possible without the dedication of our volunteers, support of our vendors, attendees and generosity of our anonymous donors (yes, you know who you are). Thanks to the staff of Salt Fork Lodge who were very attentive and made our stay there enjoyable! Thanks to the Guernsey County Visitors Bureau for their help getting the word out. Thanks to our sponsor "Small Town Monsters" for screening the "Invasion on Chestnut Ridge" and "Mothman of Point Pleasant" movies. Having Jeff Wamsley there to answer our Mothman questions was pretty cool. He is a treasure trove of Mothman Trivia! People were riveted to their seats and they really enjoyed the computer generated graphical reenactments of the cases cited in the movies. Thanks EDSquatch and Vanessa for your hard work and tireless dedication to making the event awesome. You guys rock! Thanks Brian & Terrie Seech and Leah. Once again you folks came through and really did a phenomenal job with the Crypto Auction. Every year, the Crypto Auction gets better and better and this year will be hard to beat. Thanks to Evan, Greg, John Lee and Rich Washington for pitching in whenever something needed to be done. You guys helped the event to run smoothly! Thanks to the Crypto Artists and vendors for your generous donations - Eileen Vanderslice, Casey Whorton, John MacDonald, Tammy H & Thomas Curtain, Rodney & Kathleen, Spectral Wolfpack, Mary and Aaron Dunbar, Brenzart, Eerie Eric, Squatchstik, Bill Konkolesky, Donna Fink & Dianne Beeson, Carrie Kunkle, Jessica Miley, and Guernsey Industries. Thanks to our speakers, Jeff Wamsley, Scott Mardis, Adam Davies, Todd Neiss and Tom Sewid. We consistently received high marks on the quality of the presentations and people have commented that all of the presentations were top notch! Last but not least, Thank You to all of the attendees who came to the event and made it special. We had people travel from Michigan, Arkansas, North Carolina and Florida just to attend our event. The audience was one of the nicest we've had; thanks for sharing your stories around the bonfire! Those creepy stories made it hard to sleep that night. If I have forgotten anyone, please forgive me. The hour is late and my mind is a blur.

From Small Town Monsters comes one of the most bizarre stories you'll ever encounter! The Chestnut Ridge in Pennsylvania is a region long shrouded in mystery. In the 1960s the small village of Kecksburg, PA was thrust into the spotlight when a purported UFO crashed in a nearby forest. Over the following years events in the region continued to unfurl that would stretch the boundaries of our reality. From Bigfoot-type creatures to unusual aerial events, the Chestnut Ridge played host to the strangest of the strange.
Now it's your turn to journey into the unknown! |
Right after the premiere of the movie, "Invasion", we will be screening "The Mothman of Point Pleasant" which is another documentary by Smalltown Monsters, chronicling the strange events surrounding the appearance of a "Mothman" in a rural West Virginia town.
