What is Creature Weekend?
Creature Weekend is a conference dedicated to the exploration and discussion of Cryptozoology. Held annually in Cambridge, Ohio, the conference attracts researchers from all over the USA and features speakers on various cryptozoological topics. Whether you are an experienced researcher, armchair enthusiast, or someone who would like to learn about the exciting field of cryptozoology, Creature Weekend offers something for everyone in a friendly and fun environment. We regularly have workshops that teach beginners and veterans the proper way to collect potential evidence for the existence of Cryptids and offer hikes into the field for a real investigative experience. We also sponsor a Summer Campout that is a family friendly way to share your experiences and best practices in the field with others who share your passion.
What is Cryptozoology?
Cryptozoology is the study of hidden animals, i.e. animals that have yet to be identified by science or thought to have been long extinct. Bigfoot, Dogmen, The Abominable Snowman, The Loch Ness Monster, Thunderbirds and many other mysterious and elusive creatures fall into this category.

5/4/2021 CREATURE WEEKEND 2021 CANCELED
Fellow Creature Seekers,
Due to the uncertainty of the lockdown requirements in Ohio and the subsequent negative impact that may have on future indoor activities, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the next Creature Weekend Conference until further notice.
However, recognizing that we did not want to wait years to reconnect with our fellow attendees with whom we have forged close relationships with over the years, the Board of Regents has therefore decided to have a smaller, more casual Summer Event in July of 2021. Due to the limited accommodations, attendees will be by invitation-only. If you would like to get on the waiting list, please email [email protected]. Preference will be given to people who registered online for the 2019 Creature Weekend Conference.
This Summer Retreat is not meant to be a replacement for the Creature Weekend Conference, but rather an opportunity for Creature Weekend supporters to gather and enjoy each other's company in a more casual atmosphere highlighted by good food, great campfire stories and even greater camaraderie. Live entertainment, bonfires and cryptozoology presentations are included in the itinerary for this three day event scheduled for July 29-Aug 1st. Details will be included in the invitations.
Once again, Thank You for your support!
Sincerely,
Bruce H.

7/24/2020 CREATURE WEEKEND 2020 CANCELED
Hello Fellow Creature Seekers,
Please accept our apologies for our long absence from social media as we have been in a holding pattern since March and we were hopeful that good news was just around the corner.
However, as we continue to monitor the events around the COVID19 pandemic in Ohio, it has become clear that recovery has been slow and cautious.
Gatherings held in Ohio are compelled to comply with the 6 foot social distancing requirements and as recently as July 22, 2020, the Governor has ordered a mandatory wearing of facial coverings for persons over the age of 10, who are attending public gatherings:
“All individuals in Ohio must wear facial coverings in public at all times when:
In addition, the governor has issued a travel advisory for people traveling to Ohio from select states:
“STATEWIDE TRAVEL WARNING
Governor DeWine announced today a travel advisory for all individuals coming into Ohio from states reporting positive COVID-19 testing rates of 15 percent or higher. Those traveling from one of the following states should self-quarantine for 14 days at home or in a hotel.
Last but not least, the Governor issued “extreme caution” about hosting informal gatherings, as these types of gatherings are posing a danger to the attendees.
INFORMAL GATHERINGS
Governor DeWine today urged citizens to use extreme caution when considering attending or hosting an informal gathering.
"We are seeing serious exposures to the virus that are arising from everyday events like church services, small house parties, neighborhood get-togethers, children’s sleepovers, weddings, and even bridal showers," said Governor DeWine. "This virus is real, and we cannot let our guards down."

Given OHIO’s COVID restrictions on social distancing and travel, and the possibility of spreading the disease even further by organizing a gathering, we have decided to err on the side of social responsibility and safety by postponing our event until 2021. We, at Creature Weekend, feel that we could not deliver the full Creature Weekend experience and quality programming that our loyal attendees have become accustomed to amidst this pandemic environment and we certainly did not want our event to be the origin of the next outbreak of COVID in OH.
I know you must be disappointed to hear this but this was a decision that we did not make lightly. We waited until the last possible moment, hoping for some breakthrough in this pandemic that would allow us to organize safely, but it does not look like one is forthcoming any time soon. There has also been a rumor that a virtual event may happen this Fall, but that does not seem likely either. (but NEVER say NEVER).
Thank You for your support. We, at Creature Weekend, are truly humbled by the amount of support we have received and work really hard to earn and keep your loyalty. The event has grown beyond our wildest anticipations. Our dinner last year had 129 attendees, compared to 44 during our first year. We will be posting photos of our event last year on facebook, and I urge attendees to comment on them so that we can relive the camaraderie that we shared last year!
On behalf of myself and the Creature Weekend volunteers, Be SAFE and HAPPY! We hope to see you again next year!
Sincerely,
Bruce H.
